India has received attention due to its increased focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle through various efforts, including government schemes, corporate wellness programs, public health campaigns, and regulations related to healthcare. More than 70% of Indians said they prefer to change their diets than go to the gym or fitness centre to improve their overall health, increase immunity, and lower stress and anxiety. Interestingly, 100% of the people who took the survey correctly identified healthy foods from junk food, indicating a high level of awareness about the harmful effects of foods high in sugar or fat.
India’s Move To A Healthier Lifestyle
India is making some progress in following a healthier lifestyle. The Indian government has launched programs to help people eat more nutritious meals to promote wellness and health. Regular exercise and access to healthcare services are critical components of healthier lifestyles, and programs like the National Health Mission (NHM), Ayushman Bharat, and the Fit India Movement support these goals. About 26% of the people surveyed stated they would like to do meditation, and 65% said they now depend more on dietitians and doctors to help them achieve their goals.
As A Developing Nation
India is trying to improve its healthcare infrastructure, including clinics, hospitals, and healthcare centres. It also attracts experts in healthy lifestyles. This growth guarantees that more people will have access to healthcare services when required, which will be done by improving accessibility. Initiatives such as the National Nutrition Mission (Poshan Abhiyan) are implemented to prevent malnutrition and promote a healthy diet. A secure future guarantees well-being, which comes from a healthier environment. Tobacco, smoking, and junk food consumption not only harm our bodies over time but also cause illness.
Dr Subash Gupta, Chairperson of Red Cross Society, Ghaziabad- In India, a move toward a healthier lifestyle is spreading throughout the country. We are seeing a shift in the importance placed on mental, physical, and emotional well-being through government initiatives, corporate wellness programs, and increased public awareness. Every action taken, from using modern healthcare technology to adopting healthy diets and active lifestyles, from traditional treatments to accepting modern healthcare technologies, is on the path with the shared goal of a healthier future. The government, the healthcare industry, companies, and individuals working together to promote a culture of wellness inspire me as a social worker. We advance toward a better future where every citizen lives a healthy, happy, and fulfilled life.
